How to play Clockwork Hen, a snake game
Clockwork Hen is a snake game with a farmyard twist. Walk the clockwork hen round the yard and pick up eggs. Each egg hatches into a chick that follows her, so her line grows longer and longer.
Step by step
- Swipe, or press the arrows under the yard, to turn the hen. On a keyboard, use the arrow keys or W, A, S and D.
- She keeps walking the way she faces. Walk her over an egg to pick it up.
- Ten steps later the egg hatches into a chick that follows her everywhere.
- Walking into the fence, a hay bale or one of her own chicks ends the yard. Press New yard to start again.
- Hatch the chicks a level asks for (8, 12 or 16, by the pace you chose) and they go home to the coop. She walks on into the next level, a little quicker.
Tips
- Turn early. The longer the line, the more room you need to turn.
- Walk along the edges, and leave the middle open for when the line is long.
- She cannot turn straight back into her own line, so plan your turns one step ahead.
- Try a calm yard first. Calm yards have no hay bales.

Calm yards are slow and have no hay bales. Brisk and swift yards are quicker and have more bales.

Every day there is one yard with the same eggs for everybody. Hatch its brood to count your day.
About this game
Mother, the silver robot hen, walks the farmyard picking up eggs. Every egg follows right behind her and hatches ten steps later into a real chick (white, yellow, brown or black) that joins the line. Hatch the brood a level asks for and the next one begins, a little quicker and a little higher, from the farm up to the sky and out to the moon. Walk into the fence, a hay bale or your own brood and the run is over. Choose a calm, brisk or swift yard, or play the daily yard that is the same eggs for everyone.
