How to play Minesweeper
Minesweeper is a logic puzzle. Some squares hide mines, and the numbers tell you how many mines are close by. Dig up every safe square to clear the field. Here, every field can be solved without guessing.
Step by step
- Tap a square to dig it. The first patch is dug for you.
- A number shows how many mines touch that square, in all eight directions.
- A square with no number has no mines around it, so the squares around it open by themselves.
- When you know a square hides a mine, switch to Flag and tap it, or press and hold it.
- Dig every safe square and the field is clear. You win!
Tips
- Start at the edges of the open area. A 1 with only one hidden square beside it means that square is a mine.
- Tap a number whose mines are all flagged, and every other square around it is dug at once.
- A flagged square cannot be dug by mistake.
- Stuck? The lamp digs a safe square or flags a mine, and shows the numbers that prove it.
- Undo takes back your last dig or flag, but digging up a mine cannot be undone.
Questions
Do I have to guess in Minesweeper?
Not here. Every field is checked before you see it, so the numbers always show a safe move.
Which size should I start with?
Start with Small, which is 9×9 squares with 10 mines. Medium has 32 mines and Large has 72.
Do I need to flag every mine?
No. Flags are there to help you remember. You win when every safe square is dug.
About this game
Every field can be cleared by thinking, never by guessing. Dig squares, read how many mines touch each one, and plant a flag on every mine. Small, medium and large fields, and a new daily field every day.
