How to play Klondike solitaire
Klondike is the solitaire most people know. Seven columns of cards are dealt, and only the top card of each is face up. Sort the whole deck onto four piles, one for each suit, from Ace up to King.
Step by step
- Stack cards down the columns in alternating colours. A red six goes on a black seven.
- Turn a face-down card over by moving the cards on top of it.
- Drag a card to where it should go, or tap it and the game moves it for you.
- Out of moves? Draw from the stock. When it runs out, tap it again to turn the waste back over.
- Build the four foundations from Ace up to King, one suit each. Fill them all and you win.
Tips
- Turn over face-down cards as soon as you can. That is how the game opens up.
- Only a King can move into an empty column, so keep one ready before you empty a column.
- Do not rush cards up to the foundations. A low card in a column can still hold other cards for you.
- Stuck? Ask for a hint, or press Undo and try another way.

No. Some deals get stuck whatever you do. If a game feels hopeless, just deal a new one.
